Non Surgical Arm Lift

Arm lift is one of the effective methods for improving the appearance of the underarm area and correcting skin sagging in this area. With increasing age or significant weight loss, the skin of the arm may become loose and sagging, which may not improve even with exercise and diet.

In these circumstances, arm lift surgery, by removing excess skin and fat or reshaping the area, helps restore beauty and proportion. This procedure is not solely designed for localized weight loss or overweight individuals. In fact, most people seeking an arm lift are dissatisfied with the appearance of their arms, which have changed over time.

Although arm lift surgery, or brachioplasty, is one of the most effective methods for addressing sagging and excess fat in this area, it is not the only option available. Individuals who, for any reason, are unwilling to undergo surgery can benefit from non-invasive methods such as machine-assisted arm lifts.

Non-surgical methods for arm lift

Currently, several methods such as endolift, RF, laser, HIFU, and Ultherapy exist for addressing sagging and loose arm skin. These can be performed without surgery or anesthesia. These techniques, utilizing modern technologies, help to shape and rejuvenate the arms. The various non-surgical arm lift methods are as follows:

Non-surgical methods for arm lift

Arm lift with Endolift technology

Endolift is an advanced, minimally invasive arm lift procedure that uses laser technology to tighten and rejuvenate the skin. In this method, laser energy is delivered to the underlying layers of the skin via a very fine optical fiber. This controlled heat affects fatty tissues and, by stimulating collagen production, improves skin firmness and texture.

Because this procedure is performed locally and with high precision, surrounding tissues are not damaged, and there is no significant recovery period. The therapeutic results of Endolift become progressively more apparent in the months following the procedure, and it can be repeated if necessary or combined with other non-invasive methods for greater effectiveness. This method is also used for thigh lifts.

Note: Endolift technology is suitable for mild to moderate sagging and is not very effective for severe sagging.  Endolift requires a high level of skill from the physician.

Arm lift with Radiofrequency (RF)

Arm lift using radiofrequency (RF) is a non-surgical technique approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This method uses radiofrequency energy to heat the deep layers of the skin. This heat converts excess fat into liquid and helps in its elimination. The body recognizes this heat as an injury and responds by stimulating collagen production and tightening the skin; as a result, the arms appear firmer.

Local anesthesia is usually used for this procedure. Initial results are visible about two weeks later, but collagen production may continue for several months, and the final result is usually seen after six months. Most people only need one session, but in cases of severe skin laxity, 3 to 6 sessions may be necessary.

In some cases, for Buttock lift or thigh lift, this method or similar methods may also be used.

Note: If RF is performed deeply and with professional devices (such as BodyTite), it also destroys fat.

Arm lift with Laser

In this method, a type of non-surgical lift, only a small incision is made on the arm. Then a thin tube is inserted into the skin, and laser energy is applied to the localized fat. This energy melts the fat without damaging the surrounding tissues. Then the melted fat is drained through liposuction. Keep in mind that in procedures such as abdominal liposuction or Lipomatic body sculpting surgical procedures are used, and much larger amounts of fat are removed; however, in this method, only a very small amount of fat can be removed.

In addition to removing fat, the laser energy stimulates collagen production and helps reduce skin sagging. This method does not require stitches; therefore, the scar is small. Several treatment sessions are usually needed to achieve the desired result in this method.

Note: Laser lipolysis is often combined with liposuction. This method is useful for small areas of fat and skin tightening but is more invasive than other methods on this list.

Arm lift with HIFU

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is another non-surgical method for tightening arms. In this method, ultrasound waves heat the deep layers of the skin to a temperature of approximately 65 to 70 degrees Celsius. This heat causes controlled damage to the cells and stimulates the body to repair them by producing collagen and elastin.

HIFU, which also has FDA approval, is usually performed with local anesthesia and, in addition to the arms, is used for shaping other areas of the body such as the thighs, buttocks, and flanks; also, instead of mastopexy or breast lift surgery, you can use HIFU to lift this area. The final results of HIFU arm treatment are visible after a few months and may reduce skin sagging, stretch marks, and even cellulite.

Note: HIFU is mostly used on the face, but it is used on the arms only if the sagging is limited.

Non-surgical arm lift with HIFU

Arm lift with Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a new, non-surgical method for arm lift that uses ultrasound technology. The device used in this method creates heat points in the deep layers of the skin, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. The generated heat (up to 70 degrees Celsius) causes the contraction of old collagen fibers and the formation of new ones.

This method leaves the skin surface untouched and is performed without incisions or stitches. The results of the Ultherapy arm lift become fully apparent gradually over a period of 6 months.

Note: Ultherapy is a specific type of HIFU with simultaneous imaging, suitable for mild skin sagging, and offering slow but natural results.

Arm lift with threads

Arm lift with threads is a minimally invasive and effective method for tightening the skin in this area. In this method, special threads are inserted subcutaneously into the arm at a specific angle. These threads, which have small barbs, help to pull the skin and prevent displacement.

By recognizing the threads as foreign bodies, the body begins to produce collagen and new fibers, which causes the skin to tighten. These threads are gradually absorbed by the body, and the results usually become apparent within a few months. Thread lift can be combined with methods such as laser treatment.

Note: In thread lifts, the results are usually temporary; therefore, they require renewal.

Arm lift with Cryolipolysis

Cryolipolysis, or cold sculpting, is a non-surgical method approved by the FDA for removing localized fat. In this method, fat cells are frozen and gradually destroyed without damaging surrounding tissues.

This method is most suitable for individuals who have reached a healthy weight but still have localized fat deposits. Because the body needs time to eliminate dead fat cells, results become apparent after several weeks. It is important to note that this method does not affect skin tightening. If you are considering body sculpting without surgery, you can choose cryolipolysis or cold sculpting instead of surgical liposuction.

Note: Cryolipolysis is a non-surgical method for removing localized fat through freezing, which does not affect skin sagging; it only reduces fat volume.

Arm lift with Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy involves injecting a combination of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and herbal extracts into the middle layer of the skin. These combinations, depending on individual needs, may help reduce fat, decrease cellulite, brighten, and tighten the skin.

This method uses very fine needles for injection to minimize pain and discomfort. The specific formula of the injected substances varies according to the doctor’s judgment. Several treatment sessions are usually needed to achieve optimal results.

Note: Mesotherapy is the injection of vitamins and active compounds, the results of which are weaker than other methods and are mostly used to improve skin quality.

Suitable candidates for non-surgical arm lift

Individuals with mild to moderate skin sagging or laxity in their upper arms are good candidates for non-surgical arm lifts. These methods are usually recommended for individuals between 35 and 55 years old and are most suitable for those with realistic expectations of the treatment results.

Although these techniques may noticeably improve the appearance of the arms, their effectiveness will not be as significant as surgery; also, the effectiveness of non-surgical lifting methods may vary depending on skin color and type. Therefore, we suggest consulting a plastic surgeon for more information before undergoing this procedure, Cosmetic Surgeon in Tehran Dr. Gholamhossein Ghorabi.

Longevity of non-surgical arm lift and fat removal

The longevity of non-surgical arm lifts depends on various factors such as individual characteristics, skin condition, age, and lifestyle, and may vary from person to person. However, on average, each non-surgical arm lift method has a specific duration of effectiveness:

  • Ultherapy: Between 1 and 2 years
  • Endolift: Approximately 2 to 3 years
  • Cryolipolysis: Approximately 1 year
  • RF (Radiofrequency): 1 year or more
  • Laser: 2 to 3 years
  • HIFU: 2 to 3 years
  • Thread lift: Approximately 18 months
  • Mesotherapy: Between 12 and 18 months

These estimates may vary depending on post-treatment care, skin condition, and the body’s response to treatment.

Recovery period of non-surgical arm lift

For different types of Body cosmetic procedures Different recovery periods are considered; however, non-surgical methods generally have shorter recovery periods. Unlike brachioplasty surgery, in non-surgical arm lift methods, there is usually no recovery period. In some methods, symptoms such as redness, swelling, bruising, burning, or mild sensitivity may be observed. These symptoms usually disappear within a few hours to a few days and, because they are in the arm area, do not create any limitations for the individual.

Only in the thread arm lift method might slight bruising and pain be felt, which usually improves within a few days to a week. In most cases, individuals are able to resume their daily activities immediately after treatment. Of course, these are presented as general guidelines, and individual experiences may vary. For more precise information about the recovery period of each method, it is best to consult your doctor.

Advantages of non-surgical arm lift

Lower risk and lower cost are the most important advantages of non-surgical arm lift. Generally, the advantages of this method include the following:

  • Lower Risk: Non-surgical arm lift methods are usually non-invasive or minimally invasive and do not require large incisions; therefore, the risk of damage to nerves and blood vessels is reduced, and recovery time is shorter.
  • No Scarring: Since these methods do not use a scalpel or incisions, there is usually no significant scarring.
  • Less Pain and Discomfort: Due to their minimally invasive nature, these methods usually cause less pain and discomfort during and after treatment.
  • More Affordable Cost: Unlike surgical arm lifts, non-surgical methods typically cost less.

Ultimately, non-surgical arm lift, with its numerous advantages, is a suitable option for those seeking to improve the appearance of their arms without the need for complex and expensive surgery.

Note: The amount of fat removal from the arm in non-surgical methods is very limited and focuses more on shaping.
