This procedure removes excess skin and repositions the nipple and areola, giving the breasts a more youthful, shapely appearance. Mastopexy surgery not only corrects sagging breasts, but also helps lift and reduce the size of the breasts. Different methods of mastopexy surgery are selected based on the degree of sagging and shape of each individual’s breasts, and the end result will be increased self-confidence and satisfaction with the appearance of the body.

Breast lift methods

Breast lift procedures are designed to improve the shape and position of sagging breasts. They are performed by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple. Below are some of the common breast lift procedures:

روش‌های لیفت سینه

Crescent Mastopexy

Crescent mastopexy is a minimally invasive breast cosmetic procedure that is suitable for the correction of mild breast sagging (grade 1 ptosis). In this procedure, a crescent-shaped incision is made above the areola (the area around the nipple). A small amount of excess skin is then removed from this area, and the areola is pulled up and sutured. The advantage of this procedure is that the scar is very small and almost invisible, which is hidden at the upper edge of the areola. This technique is recommended for patients who have very little sagging and do not need extensive changes in the shape of the breast. The main goal of crescent mastopexy is to improve the position of the nipple and areola, and there is no significant change in the volume or overall shape of the breast.

Periareolar Mastopexy/Donut Mastopexy

Circular mastopexy, also known as donut mammoplasty, is a breast lift procedure used for mild to moderate sagging breasts (grade 2 ptosis). Also known as a sagging breast lift, this technique involves making two concentric circular incisions around the areola, resembling a donut. The skin between the two circles is removed, and the edges of the incisions are then brought together and stitched together.

A circular mastopexy provides more lift than a crescent mastopexy, while still leaving a relatively small scar that is located along the edge of the areola and is usually well hidden. A circular breast lift corrects some sagging of the breast and, in some cases, improves the appearance of the areola.

Anchor Mastopexy/Inverted-T Mastopexy

Anchored mastopexy, or inverted T, is a comprehensive breast lift procedure for severe sagging. In this technique, excess skin and tissue are removed through three incisions—around the areola, vertically under the breast, and horizontally in the crease under the breast. The breast contouring and nipple repositioning produce dramatic results in breast aesthetics.

While mastectomy refers to the complete removal of breast tissue to treat conditions such as cancer, anchor mastopexy is a reconstructive procedure to improve the appearance of the breast. Although it involves more scarring than other procedures, anchor mastopexy effectively corrects significant sagging and gives the breast an ideal shape.

Vertical Mastopexy/Lollipop Mastopexy

Vertical mastopexy, also known as a lollipop breast lift, is an effective technique for correcting moderate to severe sagging breasts. Also known as a breast lift, it aims to provide better results with less scarring than anchor mastopexy. In this technique, the surgeon makes a vertical incision around the areola, removing excess skin and tissue and reshaping the breast. The nipple and areola are moved to a higher position, creating a more youthful appearance.

Compared to the anchoring method, vertical mastopexy leaves a smaller, I-shaped or lollipop-shaped scar. Although this procedure does not typically involve the use of breast implants, it can be combined with breast implants in cases where volume augmentation is needed at the same time as the lift. Overall, this procedure is an ideal balance between achieving an effective lift and minimizing scarring.

The best candidate for breast lift surgery

The best candidates for a breast lift or mastopexy are those who are looking to improve the appearance and shape of their breasts and have certain characteristics. This section briefly mentions the most important of these characteristics:

بهترین کاندیدای عمل جراحی لیفت سینه

  • Women whose breasts have become saggy and deformed due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations.
  • People who have a desirable breast volume and simply want to correct sagging and lift their breasts.
  • People who are in perfect physical health and have no serious risk diseases.
  • Women who do not currently plan to become pregnant, because future pregnancies will affect the results of the breast lift.
  • People who have realistic expectations of the results of the mastopexy and understand its limitations.
  • People who do not smoke or are able to quit smoking for the period before and after the operation.
  • People who have a relatively stable weight, because changes in weight change the shape of the breasts after the operation.
  • Women who have personal motivation to undergo a breast lift and seek to increase self-confidence.

Note that gynecomastia surgery, unlike mastopexy, which is for women, refers to surgery to reduce the size of the male breast and has different candidates.

Cost of mastopexy surgery

The cost of a mastopexy, or breast lift, is not a fixed amount and varies depending on several factors. It is not possible to definitively state a single figure as the cost of a breast lift. Among the most important factors determining the cost of breast lift surgery are:

  • Plastic surgeon’s fee
  • Anesthesiologist’s fee
  • Hospital or clinic fees
  • Geographical location of the surgery center
  • Complexity of the procedure and type of mastopexy technique used

To know the exact final cost that is appropriate for your circumstances, it is recommended to consult with a cosmetic surgeon so that a more accurate estimate can be provided after the necessary examination and investigations.
